Glenda Secrest

Artworks Artist

Specializing in oil, acrylic and watercolor

GLENDA SECREST, with her husband, Joe, moved to Kokomo from Denver, Colorado in 1999 to be nearer their 10 grandchildren who live nearby. She became a member of the Kokomo Art Association and was soon juried into ARTWORKS and has enjoyed being a part of an active Artist’s Co-op.

Glenda has studied with Prof. Oscar Larmar and Dr. J. Cranston Heintzelman at Kansas State University, at Western Wyoming College, and with Professor Don Ratz at Central Arizona College. While living in Casa Grande, Arizona Glenda gained recognition in both local and state exhibits. She won purchase awards in shows at Central Arizona College. She was featured in 3 one-woman shows. Richard L. Bond of Bond and Heinle Galleries in Casa Grande, AZ. described her has being at home with color. “Her compositions are young and fresh and fairly bursting with life. Color and composition reign, while drawing goes virtually unnoticed. Her floral paintings run barefoot through the meadow in uninhibited joy.”

Glenda is noted for her painting of flowers both on canvas and furniture. She does custom furniture painting work as well as paintings in oil, acrylics and watercolor. Glenda says, “Often folks have an old family piece that they want to keep but find that it doesn’t match anything in their home! I work with them to match their wallpaper or their color scheme. I love to bring old furniture to new life! I guess I just LOVE to PAINT!!!"

If you would like to have custom work done, please leave your name and phone number with the artist on duty in the ARTWORKS 765.459.4579.
